PrakarsaWarga.Com – The legal case involving MZ (36) and DS (33) in Mojokerto has entered a new phase. Previously, MZ was the victim in a sexual assault case in which DS was found guilty, but now MZ has been named a suspect in an alleged fraud case.
The suspect was named by the Mojokerto Police Criminal Investigation Unit based on a report filed by DS in September 2025. Police stated that the two cases were separate and were processed separately in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
## Police Name MZ as Suspect
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Mojokerto Police, AKP Aldhino Prima Wirdhan, revealed that MZ was officially named a suspect on July 7, 2026. After undergoing examination, MZ was then detained at the Mojokerto Police Detention Center on July 14, 2026.
According to Aldhino, MZ’s status as a victim in a previous sexual violence case does not eliminate the legal process for the alleged fraud report currently being handled by investigators.
## Starting from Relationships and Salon Business Plans
This case began when MZ and DS met through social media in April 2025. Their relationship developed to the point where they planned to open a beauty salon in Mojokerto.
During the business preparation process, DS was known to have sent money to MZ several times, totaling Rp92.9 million. The funds were reportedly used for the down payment on the land purchase and business capital.
However, based on police investigations, the land purchase and business plans were allegedly never realized. Investigators also discovered the use of fake receipts, which were allegedly used to convince the victim.
## Police Confiscate Several Pieces of Evidence
During the investigation, the police secured a number of pieces of evidence, including the reporter’s bank statement, cell phone, and several receipts related to the alleged transactions.
Investigators concluded that there was suspected criminal fraud which caused DS to suffer losses of up to IDR 92.9 million.
On this suspicion, MZ was charged with Article 492 of the Criminal Code which regulates the crime of fraud with a maximum prison sentence of four years.
## Previously DS Was Convicted in a Sexual Violence Case
Before the alleged fraud case emerged, DS had already undergone legal proceedings for the sexual violence case against MZ.
In February 2026, the Mojokerto District Court sentenced DS to four years in prison after being found guilty of committing the crime of sexual violence based on Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Crimes of Sexual Violence (TPKS).
The case began with their meeting at a boarding house in Mojokerto in July 2025. Based on the court’s decision, the victim then reported the incident to the police and underwent a medical examination which became one of the pieces of evidence in the trial.
## Two Cases Are Processed Separately
The Mojokerto Police emphasized that the sexual violence case and alleged fraud are two different cases with legal objects that do not influence each other.
Currently, the investigation process into the alleged fraud is still ongoing until it is eventually transferred to the prosecution stage in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
