PrakarsaWarga.Com – Indonesia has officially become one of the founding countries of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) , an international organization formed to strengthen global cooperation in the development and governance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The organization was announced at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai. Twenty-nine countries joined as founding members, marking a new step in the effort to create international standards for the safe, inclusive, and beneficial use of AI for the global community.
What is WAICO?
WAICO is an intergovernmental organization officially established on July 16, 2026. Its purpose is to strengthen collaboration between countries in developing AI technology and developing regulations that can serve as a global benchmark.
In addition to encouraging innovation, WAICO is also expected to ensure that AI is used responsibly, prioritizing security, ethics, and the common good.
At the launch, world leaders emphasized that AI development should be built through international collaboration, so that the benefits of this technology can be felt by all countries without any dominance by any particular party.
